New steps in DE efforts to end abuse

Categories: Other, YMCA

The state of Delaware takes child protection seriously.  That is why community leaders- the Attorney General’s office, PCA Delaware, Delaware YMCA and the Delaware CAC- have come together with a goal to train 35,000 adults.

A special task force is expected to release its recommendations today that address child mental health needs in the fight against child sexual abuse.

“The more people who know how child sexual abuse can be prevented, the harder it’s going to be for perpetrators to be able to take advantage of our children,” said Karen DeRasmo, executive director of PCA Delaware.

To date more than 2,000 adults have been trained in the Stewards of Children program in Delaware.
