Engaged Seniors Joining the Fight to End CSA

Categories: Misc, News and Events, Other, Things We Like

Yesterday I had the pleasure of conducting a Stewards of Children training 60 Seniors from the Senior Companion Program which is sponsored by Charleston Area Senior Citizens Services, Inc.  They are senior volunteers age 55 and older who serve Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. Last year they provided over 50,000 volunteer community hours to frail Seniors in need.  The program is under the umbrella of Senior Corps, part of the Corporation for National and Community Service.   The session was part of their In-Service monthly training series.

Participants also included volunteers with the Foster Grandparent Program which is made up of 70 Seniors who work with at risk youth in the community.  The Foster Grandparent Group is also a D2L Partner in Prevention.

Thanks to Charleston Area Senior Citizens for hosting.  The group was certainly engaged and engaging!
