Stephenie M. Hewett, Ed. D

Stephenie M. Hewett has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Clemson University. She began her teaching career in a 6th grade LD resrouce classroom. She next moved to teaching first grade. She returned to Clemson University and received an M.Ed. in Reading Education. While teaching as a teaching assistant at Clemson, she fell in love with the college age group and the higher education setting. She attended New Mexico State University and received an Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction with Special Emphasis on Reading. She began teaching in The Zucker Family School of Education at The Citadel in both the Teacher Education Program and the Literacy Program teaching Adolescent Growth and Development and Teaching Reading and Writing in the Middle and High Schools.

She has been the Program Coordinator at The Citadel GEAR UP Program which worked with a group of 7th graders to help them through high school and into college. Dr. Hewett became an Authorized Stewards of Children® Facilitator in 2006 and the Coordinator for The Citadel Darkness to Light initative in 2012.
