Marketing Your Prevention Initiative: You’ve brought together your coalition, and now it’s time to get the word out about your initiative! Your marketing strategy is the series of actions that are going to help you achieve your initiative goals. The term ‘strategy’ might seem intimidating, but building an effective strategy doesn’t need to be difficult. This interactive session will give you an overview of what a marketing strategy is and what it means to your initiative, tools and resources to help you build that strategy, plus additional tips and tricks to help make putting it into action easier. Bring your laptop or tablet as this session is designed to be interactive.

Fundraising for Prevention: In this session, we will go over the fundamentals of fundraising and how to identify different streams of revenue for your prevention initiative. We will discuss the importance of setting a realistic goal, knowing your audience and understanding that the pitch will need to be different for each donor. We will also talk about how to embrace the “no’s” and how to learn from them.

We will discuss how consistently cultivating, on a day to day basis, the “low-hanging fruit” is essential due to their level of support and involvement. It is also important to look outside the box for creative fundraising ideas such as cause marketing, online giving, and product sales. You will also see how advocacy, marketing, and brand awareness are all factors that play into your initiatives success. This will include why it is so important to engage with like-minded organizations and have media engagement.
