What is Stewards of Children?

  • A program that addresses child sexual abuse in the context of today's issues.

How do I access the Stewards of Children online training?

1. Go to www.D2L.org

2. At the top right corner of the website window, click "Online Training Login." This will direct you to the login portal.

3. New Users: Click "New User"

4. Fill in all the required fields and click "Login."

5. If you already have an account, see the SOCOL User Guide.

Can I take Stewards of Children on a tablet?

Yes, the course is compatible with the iPad and Droid tablet.

What Internet browsers are compatible with Stewards of Children?

Darkness to Light's courses work best on newer versions of the most common Internet browsers including Internet Explorer version 7 or above, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari. If you encounter difficulty playing the course in your preferred browser, please consider upgrading your browser to the latest version or using a browser listed above. In addition, to ensure that the course runs smoothly please disable your pop-up blocker. Please click here for instructions on disabling the pop-op blocker of your browser.

How do I print my certificate?

1. On your Personalized Training Dashboard page, there will be a blue box that says “Print Certificates”.
2. Click this box. You will be directed to your Transcript page.
3. Click the “Completed” tab. Then, your completed trainings will appear in the window.
4. Click on the title of the training for the certificate that you wish to print.
5. You will be directed to the details of the training. At the bottom of this window you will see
    Certificate: Print Certificate”.
6. Click “Print Certificate”. Your certificate will appear in a new window, and can then be printed.

Does Stewards of Children qualify for CEU credits?

Stewards of Children online qualifies for 2 hours of credit from the National Association of Social Workers and the National Board of Certified Clinicians. The training may qualify for CEUs for other professions.  Check with your CEU governing board to see if they apply.

What do I do if the video doesn't load?

First, make sure your Internet browser's pop-up blocker is disabled. Click here for instructions on disabling the pop-op blocker of your browser.  Second, if this happens during the course, click on the Back button, then click the Next button again and the video should load.

How can I make a donation to Darkness to Light?

From your Personalized Training Dashboard click on the orange square that says "Make a Donation." This will direct you to the Darkness to Light donation page. Enter your information and click submit. 

How do I Join the Movement to end child sexual abuse?

From your Personalized Training Dashboard, click on the yellow square that says "Join the Movement." This will allow you to sign up for monthly emails and receive the latest about Darkness to Light and child sexual abuse prevention, including news, tips, and training opportunities.   

How can I become an authorized facilitator for the live Stewards of Children?

To become an authorized facilitator, you must attend a facilitator workshop. These train-the-trainer workshops are held regularly in cities across the country. The cost of the workshop is $350 and includes:

  • 7.5 hours of instruction, approved for CEU credit by National Association of Social Workers and National Board of Certified Clinicians. (CEU credit for other professions may apply but it is the responsibility of the facilitator to determine requirements and submit any required applications.)
  • Instruction on the philosophy and purpose of the Stewards of Children curriculum, mastery of the training curriculum, preparation for and promoting the program, and facilitator policies and procedures.
  • All training materials including a Facilitator Manual, a Stewards of Children interactive workbook, Facilitator Guide & Script and DVD. It is highly recommended that prior to attending a Facilitator Workshop, you first participate in a Stewards of Children training session or complete the online version of the program also available on our website.
