Since 1987, The Baltimore Child Abuse Center has provided a coordinated response to child sexual abuse investigations, providing a safe, child-friendly space for victims and families to seek justice and begin the healing process. In addition to providing intervention and treatment services, Baltimore Child Abuse Center is Maryland's foremost resource for prevention education and training for youth serving professionals, parents, and caregivers.

Throughout numberous presentations to front line reporters, such as social workers, counselors, and educators, D2L & BCAC learned that many of these professionals have been incorrectly instructed how to report abuse, have misinformation about their responsibilities as Mandated Reporters, and some do not know what to look for or how to react when abuse is discovered. In response, D2L has created a course called Recognizing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect. A course that will educate you on signs of abuse, understanding the Maryland State law, how to respond appropriately when abuse is suspected or disclosed and tips for making a report. BCAC has also launched an online resource for Maryland's Mandated Reporters - a website containing more information for Mandated Reporters.

Baltimore Child Abuse Center is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor continuing education programs. For more information on CEUs, specialized training's offered by BCAC, or to schedule training for your organization, go to www.bcaci.org/professionaldevelopment.
