Prevent-a-thon

Prevent-a-thon is a month-long media event that drives people to take action to protect the children in their lives and mobilizes the community to address the issue of child sexual abuse. Prevent-a-thon raises awareness of the problem by blanketing a community with news stories, public service announcements and events with the goal of having as many people as possible pledge to take the Stewards of Children prevention training. 

During the Prevent-a-thon month, Darkness to Light's nationally-acclaimed Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training sessions are held without charge in a wide array of locations and venues. Thousands of people are trained during Prevent-a-thon or pledge to host a training session in the coming months.

Darkness to Light's Prevent-a-thon started in Charleston, SC but is starting to take off in other areas of the country. Our vision is to have an annual Prevent-a-thon with events held nation wide.
