What Is Prevent-a-thon?
During August 2007, 493 TriCounty adults chose to learn how to better protect our lowcountry children and youth by participating in one of the 33 community-based Stewards of Children trainings. Their involvement in the 2.5 hr Stewards of Children training, along with their participant feedback and training evaluations, indicated that they increased their child sexual abuse prevention knowledge base, changed their attitudes and understanding of child sexual abuse, and left the training with a plan of action for contributing to child sexual abuse prevention initiatives in our community.

Attend the Trainings!
Keller Williams Realty has generously funded an abundance of Stewards of Children (SOC) training kits designated for TriCounty adults & organizations. Hence, Darkness to Light will continue to provide the 2.5 hour Stewards of Children trainings FREE OF CHARGE to Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley County organizations for as long as the training supplies last.
The limited number of free trainings is available to organizations that submit an Organizational Pledge form and schedule a Stewards training for their staff and volunteers at their site during fall 2007. Interested groups need to contact Lane Aspinwall (843-965-5444) at Darkness to Light ASAP to submit an Organization Pledge and schedule their SOC training while supplies last.*2.5 Continuing Education hours for LPC and LMFT are provided by Barbara Melton*
